A Jaguar E-Type that was stolen from outside its owner’s New York apartment in 1968 will be returned to its rightful custodian 46 years after the car first went missing. Original owner Ivan Schneider described the outcome as a "miracle" – which it sort of is, when you find out the full story behind the finding of his classic E-Type. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is unofficially known as the best car in the world… and the firm has now revealed the model that could make that title official – the new V12-engined long-wheelbase S 600 range-topper. Boasting a 530hp 6.0-litre biturbo V12, the new S 600 can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.6 seconds… but, thanks to ECO stop/start, it can also average over 25mpg, a 21% improvement on the old car. Just as importantly, it also promises an unparalleled luxury car experience.
As Jaguar confirmed its new F-type sports car at the 2012 New York auto show, it issued some teaser video footage of the new £55,000 roadster landing in showrooms in spring 2013. Jag ambassador and former racer Martin Brundle hitches a lift with the company's chief dynamics engineer Mike Cross for a few hot laps in the F-type prototype around its handling circuit at Gaydon. We can safely ignore the hyperbole poring forth ('It's responsive, it's a great car to drive') but it's a good chance to see the all-aluminium F-type in action.
